6 Books For A Soulful Summer-Guest Post by Natasha Nurse

This week, my friend Natasha of Dressing Room 8 is telling us about some of her favorite summer reads; You Are A Badass has been on my list for awhile and just got moved to the front of the line thanks to Natasha's recommendation!

xoxo,

Melissa

I love to read. No, seriously, I absolutely love to read. Whether it is a funny tweet, a beautiful poem by Maya Angelou, or one of my favorite blogger's recent posts, reading truly makes me happy. Reading is everything to me. Growing up, reading was a must in my household. While other kids were having play dates and enjoying endless hours of video games, I had my head in a book or a magazine or I was happily in front of TV enjoying hours of HBO. Why did I love reading?

Reading gives us the opportunity to live our lives through a fictional character. We can see through the eyes of someone else’s narrative. And, we can have peace of mind silencing our own thoughts to get lost in the words of the author. Each and every time, I am left wanting to say these two words…

For those of you who don’t like to read? Or don’t see the value of it, I am usually at a loss of words.

This summer, I have been grateful to get in some great reading despite my non-stop schedule. So, here is my must read book list that you too can enjoy (if you haven’t already read these books):

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

If you are into reading about love, this book is definitely for you. A story about a young girl who risks everything for the chance to have everything with the beautiful boy next door is...EVERYTHING.

Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss

Reading that is both informative and inspirational is how we truly grow as people. It is amazing how Tim Ferriss shares incredible insight from so many of the influential leaders of our world. This book is the perfect book for this summer AND the rest of your life ;)

You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero

It is an honor when people comment on how confident I am. Confidence is something we all have within us but, you also have to grow and nurture your natural confidence. This book works well as a confidence pick me up for all seasons of the year.

The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon

After reading Everything, Everything, I gushed about how amazing this book was to my hubby, then I scoured Amazon to see if Nicola Yoon had additional work available. Thankfully, she did. Boy oh boy, was this book such a delight to read. The love story between a young biracial couple was both moving and beautifully honest. Dare I say, this book was EVERYTHING as well?

Born to Win: Find Your Success Code by Zig Ziglar and Tom Ziglar

As an entrepreneur, I am constantly reading for pleasure and for work. Learning new skills, tips, and motivation only makes me better at what I do. Zig Ziglar has been improving people’s lives for many years. Some might even say he is the Yoda of the business world. Why not take the time this summer to get some business tips for your own business or assist you as you turn your passion into something more?

A New Model: What Confidence, Beauty, and Power Really Look Like by Ashley Graham

Who doesn’t love Ashley Graham? She is a model who is helping to change our world and media in unimaginable ways. I loved reading her thoughts on body image and self-love. It is her beliefs that she unapologetically shares with the world that helps us realize how beauty and power are absolutely sizeless. Her power and confidence are truly inspirational. Sending lots of love to this influential bombshell!
