This week I'm chatting with Sandra Litva Moran of Litva's Jewelry; a designer of eclectic jewelry based in Springfield, Missouri.
Does the name Litva's Jewelry have a special meaning?
Litva is my maiden name, I am Croatian-Canadain and it is pronounced "leet-va"
I always knew my business would be named "Litva's" no matter what I decided to do! So it was automatic that my jewelry business would be named LITVA'S Jewelry. I am also a hairstylist and my salon name is, of course, LITVA'S Salon :)
What inspired you to start your company?
Well...I have always been creative, an artist, I've been making jewelry (in the background) since I was a little girl, I think I always knew it would become a reality someday to have my own jewelry business and when the ideas keep coming I must create...so my husband agreed I should just do it...and that was that! Though not everything always goes as planned...the past 6 years have been difficult for me dealing with illness, (an acute case of vertigo, followed by panic/anxiety which led to a flare of my Ulcerative Colitis--I have been a fighter of Colitis for over 25 years now) but now that I am on the mend I can finally start to really get my business going in the direction I envision for it; designs, being found in boutiques across the U.S. and hopefully Canada, and a few other dreams I have...
What makes your products special and do you have a favorite product?
I can't say that I have a favorite product...I only make what I love! I love being different and want to help women celebrate their uniqueness, to "express their individuality and make their own rules"
I'm a chameleon; different day equals different mood; so I like to dress that mood, do my hair & makeup that style and wear certain jewelry that day to express myself/my mood---I believe we are all like that (of course we have staples in our wardrobes but who doesn't like a little adventure now and then?)
I feel my pieces can be worn by so many different women, styled many different ways, because, to me, jewelry is an extension of your personality and that unique "je ne sais quoi" that makes every woman a stunning beauty in her own mysterious way. I design my pieces to accentuate that natural beauty, for whatever mood you feel or want to express that day. I don't follow trends too closely, I'm just me, that's how I create and I feel my passion comes to life with every piece of jewelry I put out into the world, I hope it speaks to others and they love wearing their LITVA'S Jewelry as much as I loved creating it.
Where can we find you online?
Thank you so much, Sandra, for sharing your story!
